Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy

Presbyterian Church (USA)

United African Presbyterian Church is a congregation composed of people from African countries. Founded on the word of God revealed in scripture, the group was formed in January 2005. The Rev. Dr. Jemimah Ngatia is the pastor. The fellowship includes professionals, students, visitors, young and old people from Africa.

The fellowship is supported by the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy, a regional govering body of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Mission

UAPC meets to worship God and fellowship together and support one another. The church focuses on students and other people who are arriving from Africa and those already in the St. Louis area and are looking for a church home.

At UAPC people from Africa meet to share challenges that they face in a different culture. In getting together, the group worships in African traditional ways so as to stay connected spiritually with their families back home.

UAPC attends to the spiritual and social needs of immigrants from Africa as well as material needs such as food and clothing. UAPC helps immigrants settle by assisting with finding the right offices for documents, where to shop for food from Africa, and how to cope with the cultural shock some experience in their new community.
