Rally on Vocation and Spirituality attracts over 300 YouthsThe presbytery's annual youth rally keeps growing. Over 300 youths from 28 congregations attended the November 10th event this year at Overland Presbyterian Church. The theme was Work the Plan: Vocation and Spirituality. The day included opportunities to connect with other Presbyterian youth, build relationships, and explore God's purpose for our lives. Worship was led by the Rev. Ed Zumwinkle, Associate Pastor at Glendale Presbyterian Church. Ed's sermon on God's Purpose challenged and motivated the gathered youth. Elder Cynthia Williams from Dardenne Presbyterian Church arranged the music. The day also included recreation and time to play together with a bungee run, obstacle course and climbing wall
and art projects called Soul Expressions. Rev. Joel Stevenor, pastor of Overland Church, and Denise Stevenor, gifted dramatists,
entertained and inspired the youth with a dramatic reading of Dr. Seuss' O the Places You'll Go.
The Council expressed its deep appreciation to Overland Church for going above and beyond in welcoming the youth of the presbytery. Next year's rally is already being planned! ![]() © 2002 Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy, Presbyterian Church (USA) |
